What we do
Marble floor polishing, honing and refinishing
Marble is a softer stone that shows wear. We work the damage out of the surface with diamond abrasives and finish with a seal.
A marble floor in a foyer or kitchen takes a beating: shoes, chair legs, a spilled glass of wine or a splash of lemon juice. Over time that shows up as dull patches, light scratches and etch marks. Cleaning alone does not bring the shine back, because the damage is in the surface of the stone. Restoration deals with the surface itself. If the floor is part of a bigger tile or grout problem, our stone and grout cleaning and sealing work covers that side.
What marble restoration includes
- Diamond sanding, honing and polishing
- Grinding
- Crystallizing
- Sealing
How do you know your marble needs restoring?
- The shine has gone dull or cloudy
- Scratches and worn paths where people walk
- Etch marks from spills
- Cleaning no longer brings it back
Honing, polishing and crystallizing: which finish is right?
Honing gives marble a smooth, even, satin finish and is often the first step, because it levels scratches and etching. Polishing builds on that to a glossy, reflective shine. Crystallizing is another way to bring up a shine on marble floors. Which one suits your stone depends on its condition and on whether you want a soft look or a mirror finish. Send photos and we will talk it through with you.

What affects the cost of marble restoration
We do not publish prices, because every marble job is different. These are the things that change the estimate:
- The size of the area, from a single vanity top to a whole floor
- The stone itself and what shape it is in
- How deep the scratches and etching go
- Whether you want a honed or a polished finish
- Whether the stone is sealed afterwards
To ask about your floor, call or text (631) 939-9655 with a few photos and a note on roughly how large the area is. If the work is for a lobby or a shared space, see our page on commercial marble floor care. Chipped or cracked stone is a different job, covered under countertop repair, and the finished floors in our work show what the results look like.

Questions
Marble restoration questions
Why is my marble floor dull?
Everyday foot traffic, fine scratching, etching from spills and cleaner buildup slowly wear down the polished surface, so light stops reflecting evenly and the floor looks flat or cloudy. Restoration works that damage out of the stone and brings the finish back up. The right approach depends on the stone and its condition.
What's the difference between honing and polishing marble?
Honing leaves a smooth, soft satin or matte surface. Polishing goes a step further to a reflective, glossy shine. Many jobs start with honing to level out scratches and etching, then move on to polishing. Which finish is right depends on the stone and the look you want.
Can etch marks and scratches be taken out of marble?
Often, yes. Diamond sanding, honing and polishing work etching, scratches and dullness out of the surface. How far it goes depends on how deep the damage is, which is why photos help us tell you what to expect.
How much does marble restoration cost?
It depends on the stone, the size of the area and its condition, so we don't post set prices. The section above lists what moves the number. Call or text a few photos to (631) 939-9655 for an estimate.
Do you do marble restoration in NYC homes and commercial buildings?
Yes. We take on residential and commercial marble work in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island, as well as in Nassau and Suffolk counties on Long Island.
