Marble care
Scratched, dull and worn marble floors
How do I remove scratches from a marble floor?
Light surface scratches can often be worked out by honing and polishing the floor, which is best left to a professional so the finish stays even. Deeper scratches may need grinding first. How far it goes depends on the stone and how deep the damage is.
Can I fix etch marks on marble myself?
Light etching may respond to a polish. Deeper etching usually needs honing and then polishing so the spot blends in with the rest of the floor. We don't recommend specific products, since the wrong one can make a mark worse. If you're unsure, send us a photo.
Why is my marble floor dull?
A dull marble floor usually has a worn finish rather than a dirty one. Foot traffic, fine scratches, spills and buildup dull the surface over time, and a stronger cleaner rarely brings the shine back. Restoring it usually means refinishing the surface.
What is the difference between honing and polishing marble?
Think of them as two steps along the same path. A honed floor has a soft, matte-to-satin look and hides wear well. A polished floor is glossy and reflective. Many people choose based on how the room is used and the look they want.
How much does marble restoration cost?
We don't publish prices because every floor is different. The size of the area, the stone, how deep the damage goes and the finish you want all matter. Send photos to (631) 939-9655 and we'll go from there.
Cleaning & sealing
Stains, sealing and grout
How do I get oil stains out of granite or marble?
Natural stone is porous, so oil soaks in and can be hard to lift. Because the wrong cleaner can etch or darken stone, we'd rather not recommend a product to try. Stain removal is part of our natural stone work, so call or text a photo to (631) 939-9655 and we'll tell you what we can do.
How often should marble be sealed?
There's no single schedule. It depends on the stone, its finish and how heavily the surface is used. Floors and kitchen counters that see more traffic and spills generally need attention more often than a low-use surface.
Do you clean grout?
Yes. We clean and seal stone and grout, including steam cleaning, for homes and businesses on Long Island and in NYC.
Countertops & tile
Countertop repair and installation
How much does granite countertop repair cost?
It depends on the type of damage, where it is and the size of the repair, so we don't quote a set price. Text a photo of the chip or crack to (631) 939-9655 for an estimate.
Do you repair countertops?
Yes. Countertop repair is one of the things we do, including epoxy work on chips and cracks. Send a photo of the damage so we can see what we're dealing with.
Do you install tile and stone?
Yes. We install tile and stone as well as restore it. Tell us about the project when you call or request an estimate.
